I just received this story in my email at work:
An Irish Ghost Story
This story happened a while ago in Dublin , and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, its true!!!!!
John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a big storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly, he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got into the car and closed the door.. only to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on . The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road ahead and saw a
curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life. Then, just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared out of no where through the window and turned the wheel. John, paralyzed with terror, watched as the hand came through the window, but never touched or harmed him.
Shortly thereafter John saw the lights of a pub appear down the road, so, gathering his strength, he jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and started telling everybody about the horrible experience he had just had. A silence enveloped the pub when everybody realized he was crying and....wasn't drunk. Suddenly, the door opened, and two other people walked in from the dark and stormy night. They, like John, were also soaked and out of breath. Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to
the other...
'Look Paddy.....there's that ****ing idiot that got in the car while we were pushing it!!!!'
(Sorry, I couldn't help myself, but it goes to show that things are not always as paranormal as they might seem - closer inspection is usually needed to make a determination.)
This story comes from an ad we left on Newszap from "Ben Franklin".
One weekend several years ago I was staying in a cabin with some friends of mine. In the mid afternoon some of us went out to a store some miles from the cabin. When we returned the only person in the house told us "I thought you guys had come back about twenty minutes ago. I heard the door creak open then I heard foot steps(its an old cabin with wooden floors). So we have dinner do a little drinking and go to bed.
One person decided to stay up and continue to get drunk. Some time later he bursts into my room and slurrs "Get up there something here Fking with me." He woke me up because I've been a practicing mystic for years. Yea at first I thought he was just drunk myself. I walked out into the great room and started to feel the place out. Not being fully awake I knew my brain waves would be in the high theta range----in other words tuned into any supernatural event.
I wondered around the room stopping by a window. I felt the presence and told dave I felt it. Just as I did an extremely powerful tingling sensation ran from the bottom of my spine to the top of my head. So I started asking questions. "What do you want" "Is there something you want us to see." ETC the anwser we got was drumming. I knew this drumming too. It sounded like Pow Wow drumming. But when we went outside no drumming, when we go back inside we can still here the drumming. Later we found out this part of the park was a summer camp for the local indians.
Thats just one story of mine that involves Spirt encounters.
This story is from Julia, she has had so many experiences, but the right attitude. Hey thanks Julia! We might call ya.
I saw your post at the SCIB, just wanted to tell you a few of our experiences. My husband and I lived on Long Island in my grandparent's summer bungalow. While there we experienced some of the most amazing experiences. Some funny, some scary. One time my brother James was on a ladder helping us paint. He felt hands around his ankles that yanked him off the ladder. He was unhurt, but swears to this day it was our grandmother. (He's a mortician, he's got a ton of stories on his own!) My other brother was dating a girl that was "undesirable" to my grandparents - they'd both passed after meeting her - once she was sleeping in what had been Grandma's bed, she felt two hands on her back PUSH her out of bed. When we were in the basement we'd hear chairs being pulled around often. Doors opened and closed by themselves, and we've often see her in the backyard leaning over the fence like she did in the 60's, talking to her other friend who passed. We'd smell grandpa's cigar smoke all the time, as well. I was very comfortable having them around, but others were not. Once we went out and left a friend, a long island Lobster fisherman (big guy) in our basement. When we returned he was as white as a sheet, said he thought we had returned an hour earlier, heard all sorts of commotion upstairs, went up to find chairs moving on their own, lights flickering on and off, and the doors all closed, when they had been left open. I had seen grandpa floating outside the second floor window right after he had died. So much has happened, I'm glad I always took it in stride. They are not the ones to fear, it's the living who can hurt you. I'd love to go out with you guys, what a cool job you have. My birthday is Halloween, my parents took us to every cemetery in New York/New England since I was a baby. We are cool with all that. there's a psychic twinkle between my mom, my sister and myself we've always taken for granted. Delaware has such a history, I hope the ghosts serve you well! Learn to call them, if you haven't already. Water and light are by far the best ways to do it.
Best Regards in the spirit world

Here's one. I visited Fort Delaware several years ago, which apparently was used as a prison for captured Confederate soldiers during the Civil War, to walk around and check it out. Back then, at least, the restoration there was kind of a work in progress, so there were plenty of dark corners to explore - and it was very interesting to say the least.
However, I came to one area of the fort where the rooms had been rather nicely restored, and the door was open, so I decided to enter the room just to have a look around. Mere seconds after I entered the room the door suddenly slammed shut. Strange, because it was not a breezy day, and there was not another person around. But then I could hear some chatter and a little laughter coming from a side room. However, when I entered that room, except for a long table with chairs, it too was empty!
I decided to get the hell out of that room.

I heard the door bump, it surprised me because I was the only one in the room and it has a child lock on it that you have to push at the very top to open. I jumped up when I saw the door was open because I
had just closed it about 5 min before. I remembered someone telling me when something happens get pics and try to talk to it. So I took about 15 pics, this is he only thing that showed up in any of them. I
saw the orb and tried a similar pic, about 10 more and got nothing. So this was something I could not recreate.
Things happen in my house every once in a while. It all started last November when a good friend of mine passed away. I heard someone walk around my room. The thing is I didn't know she had passed away until
the next morning. I have had other experiences but this was the beginning of what was happening in my house.
